How many times have you saved one of those "perfect" routine videos on social media? You know the ones: wake up at 4:30 AM, drink a green smoothie, meditate for 45 minutes, read a chapter of a non-fiction book, and run a 5K... all before logging into your 9-to-5.
And how many times did you try it, only to crash and burn by Tuesday afternoon?
If you are a woman balancing a demanding full-time career with a creative side project (or the dream of one), trying to copy the routine of an influencer who has a team of assistants isn't just unrealistic, it’s a recipe for burnout.
Lately, I’ve made a shift. I’ve been waking up later (between 7 and 8 AM!), moving slower, and getting more done.
Please know this: Your routine cannot look like everyone else’s.
If you want to explore your creative dreams without sacrificing your sanity, you need to stop managing your time and start managing your energy.
The 3 Pillars of a Sustainable "5-to-9"
In this YouTube video, I break down the exact daily routine I use to stay consistent with my side projects while working a full-time job. It’s not about checking 10 boxes; it’s about three specific shifts:
1. The "Anchor" Morning (Not the Checklist Morning) Most of us start the day in chaos - checking emails or rushing out the door. This means you are starting your day in reactive mode. The goal isn't to do a 2-hour morning routine; it's to have one non-negotiable habit that grounds you. For me, that’s meditation & visualization. It sets the tone so I’m not already drained when I clock in at work.
2. The 9-to-5 Energy Preservation This is where most people fail. They give 110% to their employer and have 0% left for their dreams. You have to learn how to work effectively at your job while "protecting the asset" (that’s you!) so you still have brain power left at 5:30 PM.
3. The "Power Block" Method You do not need to work on your creative side project every single night. In fact, if you try to, you will quit. I use a method called "Power Blocking" to get work done in just two to three sessions a week.
Want to see the full routine?
I just uploaded a breakdown of exactly how this looks in practice. I walk you through the morning setup, how to handle the midday slump, and the evening "reset" that stops the doom-scrolling.
If you are feeling behind, overwhelmed, or just tired of routines that make you feel like you aren't doing enough, this is for you.
